Women Journalists from Nepal Visits GCMMF and Amul Dairy


Anand, Gujarat, India -- (Business Wire India) -- Friday, March 19, 2010 3:12:00 PM
A group of 11 Women Journalists and Editors of Nepal visited Amul Dairy and Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. to understand the success story of dairy cooperative movement started at Amul, which is currently synonymous with White Revolution in the country. They are visiting India on an invitation by the Government of India. Shri Robert Shetkintong, Under Secretary (XPS), External Publicity Division of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India accompanied the group during the visit.



The group visited Amul Dairy plant and had discussions with officials of Amul. They were briefed on the history of Amul and role played by its founder Chairman Shri Tribhuvandas Patel and Dr. V Kurien, the father of the White Revolution on building this movement.

When asked on their experience and impression of the visit to Amul, the group mentioned “It is really impressive and an example of success of Economic Revolution. We are grateful to Amul for organizing the visit. Women empowerment through Amul model of cooperative development is a lesson for a developing country like Nepal”
