Submission guidelines

Please send releases to us at least 2 hours before the time of the release. That way we can ensure simultaneous distribution on all networks.

When you send the release, make sure you include all the following details:

  • Date and exact time of release
  • Place of issue (city, state, country)
  • Contact details (name, designation, phone number, email address) of someone who can answer questions about the release
If you wish to send photographs, please send them at high resolution or in hard copy at least 2 days in advance.

Tips for writing your press release

When your release goes out on Business Wire India it will be visible instantly, across India and the world. The release must be written so that anyone, anywhere will understand it – and get excited. These four tips will help.
  • Use a clear headline to grab reporters’ attention
The title of your release is crucial. Make it descriptive and newsworthy. Not “Company X reports earnings” but “Company X beats industry trend with record growth”.

  • Make sure first paragraph includes all the important information.
The journalist may not read any more than the first two paragraphs. So you should state everything that’s newsworthy first. And make sure you explain the "5 W's and the H" - Who, What, When, Where, Why and How.

  • Avoid hype and unsubstantiated claims
A press release is not an advertisement. It’s news. Make sure your release contains real facts that can be used to make a news report. If you want to show how good and how different your business is you must do so through fact – not just empty assertions.

  • Avoid jargon
If you're in a technical field, try not to use technical terms. Many journalists will not be as familiar with your company or industry as you are. Think how the story would appear in a newspaper and try and express it in standard English, not jargon.
