MAHLE Group Germany Strengthens Presence in India
To Focus on Becoming a Complete Solutions Provider for the Automotive Sector

MAHLE Aftermarket, part of the MAHLE Group, a leading engine components manufacturer worldwide, today announced that it is expanding its presence and making a deeper commitment to India. MAHLE Group has a clear vision to become a complete solution provider for its valuable Aftermarket customers in the Indian market.

MAHLE recognises that steadily increasing demands on components for the engine and its peripherals require complex solutions. Initiatives being undertaken in India will have a consistent customer orientation and focus since India has been and will continue to be a significant market. For MAHLE the association with India will continue to grow and become stronger through strategic partnerships.


With a view to realising this vision, MAHLE has now launched its aftermarket program for engine components, thereby strengthening its presence in India.

With this new engine components program, MAHLE establishes its presence in India as a complete solution provider for its valuable aftermarket customers in India.

A wide product range will progressively be introduced within two years from the launch with a wide variety of products starting with Pistons, Piston rings, Cylinder liners that will be followed by Valves, Bearings, and related engine components.

The product range will cover of 95% of the circulating vehicle park starting with heavy and light duty applications to be soon followed by tractors, MUVs, and passenger cars.

Sales are expected to be in excess of INR 1500 Million (150 Crores) within 5 years.

MAHLE Aftermarket has appointed India Pistons Limited as its sole distributor for the engine components ranging from passenger cars to on-highway and off- highway heavy duty vehicles and machinery.

By joining forces with the leading player in India on this specific segment of the aftermarket, the distribution system will benefit of the outstanding experience and wide customers base that India Pistons Limited has nurturedfor 60 years.

While the fast growing Indian market is MAHLE's main focus, neighbouring countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan will soon be served as well.

The engine components Aftermarket business in India will be coordinated by the locally established company, MAHLE Engine Components India Private, Ltd. The company will guarantee original equipment quality in keeping with MAHLE's legacy of offering premium quality in the industry.

To complete the offer to the Indian market, MAHLE Aftermarket's various global operations will also supply engine components and filters for imported vehicles.


MAHLE is already active here in both the original equipment and aftermarket industries with filters (for automotive and industrial applications), camshafts and engine components for two- and three-wheelers.

Filters are manufactured by MAHLE Filter Systems India, a joint venture with the Anand Group, in three locations (Gurgaon, Parwanoo, and Pune). MAHLE Filter system India is one of India's leading OEM suppliers for filters and is a leader in the independent aftermarket with ‘Purolator' and MAHLE Filters.

MAHLE Engine Components India (formerly MAHLE Migma) produces a wide range of camshafts for the main vehicle manufacturers in India in its factory in Pithampur.

Based in Chennai, MAHLE IPL -the joint venture with India Pistons Limited, is an important supplier of pistons for on-highway applications with advanced emission norms of several original equipment manufacturers.
